"All told, they considered 50 hypothetical moral dilemmas. Their responses were essentially identical to those of neurology patients who had different brain injuries and to healthy volunteers, except when a situation demanded they take one life to save others. For most, the thought of killing an innocent prompts a visceral revulsion, no matter how many other lives weigh in the balance. But if your prefrontal cortex has been impaired in the same small way by stroke or surgery, you would feel no such compunction in sacrificing one life for the good of all. The six patients certainly felt none. Any moral inhibition, whether learned or hereditary, had lost its influence."

Remix power
The difference between nihilism and existentialism is not simply cynicism or a recognition of existence. It is a divergence of contradictory rationalizations regarding the primal state of man. Negating one's existence thereby merely draws out the disparity between the two conflated concepts. A nihilist stages a rebellion against reality, and ultimately against himself by conferring the only value onto the fundamentally valueless lack of self-determination that dictates existence. An existentialist stages rebellion against rebellion itself by affirmatively demanding post-facto self-determination. Insofar as the existentialist can exist without contradiction, he has failed as an existentialist. Insofar as the nihilist exists, he has failed as a nihilist.
(This game has nothing to do with existentialism.)
